Helping you Move + Feel Better

If you’re living with significant pain and discomfort from an orthopedic(musculoskeletal) condition, you know firsthand how much it can affect your quality of life. Seemingly simple tasks like walking, climbing stairs or evenstanding become much more difficult. On a positive note, our bone, joint and muscle specialists are here to get you moving again.

What is artificial insemination?

Artificial insemination, or intrauterine insemination (IUI), is a simple procedure in which purified sperm is injected directly into a woman’s uterus, increasing the likelihood of it reaching the egg and resulting in a natural pregnancy.

It is less complicated than in vitro fertilization (IVF) and is often the first treatment step in cases of simple infertility.

How is artificial insemination performed?

1) Ovarian stimulation (optional)
•    The woman is given pills or mild injections to stimulate the ovaries to increase the chances of a mature egg being released.

2) Ovulation monitoring
•    Ultrasound monitoring to determine when the egg will be released.

3) Semen sample preparation
•    A sample is taken from the man and processed in the laboratory to purify the most motile and highest quality sperm.

4) Intrauterine insemination
•    The sample is injected into the woman’s uterus using a thin catheter. The procedure is painless and does not require anesthesia.

5) Waiting for pregnancy
•    After 12–14 days, tests are performed to confirm pregnancy.

FAQs About The Service

There are many questions about the service, we have selected frequently asked questions about this service. If you do not see your answer, please contact us.

Is treatment expensive?
Treatment can be more expensive than other simpler methods, but not all couples need IVF straight away; doctors always try to choose the most suitable and least expensive methods first, if possible.
Can I exercise during treatment?
You can often continue with light activities, but it is best to avoid strenuous exercise or intense sports during the stimulation period or after embryo transfer, as directed by your doctor.
Could I be eligible for intrauterine insemination (IUI) before IVF?
Yes. In some cases where fertility is not completely impaired, intrauterine insemination (IUI) may be the first treatment option before moving on to IVF if it is unsuccessful.
When can I take a pregnancy test after embryo transfer?
A blood pregnancy test is usually performed about 10-14 days after embryo transfer to confirm pregnancy.
